The selection for 2009 ended on the
29th of April.
Eligibility and Application
1. All artists that have been contacted by the Committee are
eligible to apply for the Biennale of Chianciano 2009.
2. Artists who have not been contacted can send to
biennale@museodarte.org:
- Their C.V.
- A portfolio of their work.
- Critics' reviews or other editorial material.
The Committee will then consider the artist and if the response
is favourable, the artist will be contacted. The deadline for
application is the 29th of April 2009, and applications received
after this date will not be considered.
Rules and Regulations
1. Artists are chosen by the Biennale Selection Committee purely
on grounds of skill and talent. The Committee consists of
curators and experts who are members of the Art Museum of
Chianciano Terme. The Committee has absolute discretion to who
can be part of the Biennale of Chianciano.
2. Hanging is not done by genre or by artistic movement. It is
emphasised that the effect of the individual work is of prime
significance. Therefore, the hanging is aimed to remove visual
confusion and allow for focused concentration on each individual
work.
3. Works can be picked up or delivered from the museum only
after the exhibition is finished.
Application Procedure
1. For organisational purposes and for planning the exhibition,
the selection committee meets each week. if you wish to
participate please email us on biennale@museodarte.org
2. Images of the works must then be sent via email to
biennale@museodarte.org for the preparation and layout of the
catalogue.
3. Each work must be labelled with the title, media, size,
artistic movement, and price for those who wish to sell their
works.
4. An artist can have three works displayed if their dimensions
do not exceed 50 cm x 70 cm, otherwise two works will be
displayed. The maximum size accepted is 100 cm x 100 cm.
5. The Biennale will exhibit on 2000 square metres of the
Museum, therefore the number of artists will be limited to those
who apply first.
Catalogue
The catalogue will be prepared by the same designers who
prepared catalogues such as:
"Figures, from Realism to Abstraction" at the Victoria & Albert
Museum, London.
"The Third Millennium Exhibition" at the Lord Leighton Museum,
London.
"Impressions on Canvas" at the Chelsea Town Hall, London.
Every artist will have an A-4 page. This will include the work
or works exhibited and the C.V. of the artist.
Publicity
Invitations to the Biennale will be sent to the most important
art galleries in Europe and the United States.
Advertisements will also be posted in national and international
newspapers and magazines.
All the clients of the 200 hotels of Chianciano will be invited.
Awards
The Three winning artists will be awarded with a plate:

All other artists will be awarded with a diploma of
participation
London Exhibition
Independently from the awards stated above, 30 artists will be
chosen to take part in one of two, 10 day exhibitions dedicated
to the Biennale 2009, at the Gagliardi Gallery in London 2010.
Artists will be selected to take part in the exhibition by the
curators of the Gagliardi Gallery.
